Wellness Coordinator

Full Time - Must be available to work Saturdays.

We are looking for an energetic, self motivated and organized person with an ability to grasp the big picture to assist the department manager. Advanced knowledge in nutrition and personal care would be helpful including previous customer service. You will proactively assist customers and help maintain a high level of satisfaction in the department. Good communication skills and ability to direct staff as indicated by department manager a must.

  • Ability to recognize and prioritize tasks needing completion such as tagging, posting sale signs, merchandising, re-sets, fronting and cleaning.

  • Team player who is happy to serve both customers and co-workers

  • Must attend occasional training either in-store, online at home or brand sponsored dinners

  • Rudimentary computer skills for ordering and scanning

  • Must be able to regularly lift 35lbs . Ability to bend, stretch, crouch, reach and climb ladders.

Deli Manager/Chef

The Whole Earth Center, is looking for a creative and passionate Chef Manager to lead our vegetarian deli/café.  Our food is prepared on site every day from fresh, whole, organic ingredients by our capable and experienced team.  We make over 95% of our soups, entrees and salads from scratch using organic and seasonally available, local vegetables.

This position entails all aspects of food service in a retail setting from menu planning, cooking, supervising retail and kitchen staff, budgeting, ordering and receiving and modeling and providing outstanding customer service.

The desired candidate will possess the ability to:

  • Effectively manage the staff of the kitchen through quality training, open communication, clearly stated expectations and emphasis on employee development.

  • Oversee cooks in preparing consistent offerings.

  • Write kitchen schedules that effectively handle the workflow, provide outstanding service and remain within labor budget.

  • Research and develop new recipes to provide variety.

  • Set pricing guidelines to meet margin goals.

  • Manage food ordering, inventory and labor costing to meet budget.

  • Review financial reports of departments’ performance and take corrective action as needed.

  • Communicate and work well with others.

Other skills we're looking for:

  • Excited by the opportunity to work with farmers to incorporate local produce into the menu.

  • Spanish language skills a plus, but not required.

  • Excellent time management skills.

  • Commitment to cleanliness.

Immediate opening for a full-time person to stock and maintain our bulk foods department. Your main objective will be to keep the department well stocked, organized and clean. Ability to provide exceptional customer service a must. Also assists with receiving of deliveries.

Continuous standing, walking, reaching, lifting and carrying 15 - 30 lbs. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. No experience necessary but you are organized and looking to be a part of our awesome team.
