we are proud to be active members of our local environmental and business communities
The Whole Earth Center is fortunate to be located in downtown Princeton--a vibrant community filled with independently owned local businesses and engaged citizens who are passionate about environmental issues. We work with non-profit organizations and our fellow local business owners on a wide range of projects designed to safeguard and enhance the culinary, environmental, social, and economic life within our community.
Environmental advocacy has been central to our store's mission from the beginning. Since our founding in 1970, the Whole Earth Center has been a town meeting place for environmental activists. We are a leader in educating and empowering community members to take the lead in reducing pesticide use, protecting natural resources, providing habitat for wildlife, fighting animal cruelty, encouraging biodiversity, and supporting energy conservation and alternative fuels.
Together with other local businesses, we work to create a more bike-friendly community, strengthen our local economy, build markets for local organic farmers, and raise funds for Princeton school gardens. And we are proud to have twice been awarded Sustainable Princeton's Environmental Leadership Award.
